The Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life." "The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch." - CCC 1324 

Youth Preparation for Sacraments

If your child is in second grade or older and you want them to receive their First Holy Communion, please contact the Religious Education Office.

The Diocese of Wilmington requires that students complete one year of religious education before entering into any Sacramental Preparation programs. Please contact the Religious Education office should you have any questions regarding this policy and your child.

We are here to support and assist you in raising your child in the Catholic faith. Below are some of the basic requirements to have your child receive First Holy Communion here at St. Christopher's:

Your child must:

• Be baptized in the Catholic Church or another Christian denomination recognized by the Catholic Church. They must have been baptized with water and “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”
• Have received at least one year of religious education instruction.
• Have received the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Instruction for this sacrament takes place at the same time as instruction for First Holy Communion.
