How We Serve
In keeping with the Knights of Columbus’ principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism, the members of Fr. Joseph G. McManus Council #7941, located here at St. Christopher’s, perform works year-round for the parish, the community, and our country.
Knights host bull and oyster roasts, crab and shrimp feasts, spaghetti dinners, Shrove Tuesday pancake suppers, and other events to raise funds for efforts such as renovating the preschool playground, repainting the church hall’s bathrooms, or purchasing appliances for the kitchen. The Knights hold soccer- basketball, and archery competitions, as well as the “My Favorite Saint” and “Keep ‘Christ’ in ‘Christmas’” poster contests, for our church’s young people, and support other parish activities, such as dances, fall festivals, and Easter Eggstravaganzas.
The Knights prepare and distribute Christmas baskets to needy families, collect and donate money to local organizations that serve those with mental disabilities, and contribute to neighborhood schools and youth groups like the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. The Knights provide for seminarians and other religious vocations; donate funds for cancer research, hospice efforts, and providing wheelchairs and medical services; and unswervingly support our nation’s veterans and the unborn.
Fr. Joseph G. McManus Council, named after a former pastor of St. Christopher’s, remains ever-ready and ever-willing to serve any way it can.
