Service Opportunities

Community service is a natural outflow of Catholic living.  “Faith without works is dead” James 2:14-26.   The act of serving others changes our hearts, broadens our perspective, and draws us closer to God and each other.   Both St. Christopher's Parish and our local community provide a wide variety of service opportunities.

Requirements

While there are no requisite number of hours, the completion of three community service projects are a requirement of this program.  In addition, students must participate in at least one group project. A group project is any service project organized by St. Christopher's Church including the Family Life Committee, the Knights of Columbus, the Liturgical Committee and Music Ministries,  St. Christopher's Preschool and the Confirmation Coordinator and/or Religious Education Teachers.  We recommend completing your service requirements IN THE FALL/WINTER, before sacramental preparation begins in February.  Confirmation preparation is packed with activities and we do not want students overwhelmed.  Group projects have been a favorite activity for past confirmation classes so be prepared to have fun!  Students are required to complete only three but will want to do more and are encourage to do so!

There are many service opportunities through St. Christopher's and our local community as well.  When you have completed any activity, notify your teacher.  For non-church related activities, please write down the date of service, a brief description, and have an appropriate adult sign off on your work.   Be proud of your contributions!    If students regularly perform community service with their families or activity group, this can be included in the three required activities.
